ANUCLIM - Technical Details
ANUCLIM is an early-generation climate envelope approach that works by summarizing the climate at known occurrence locations for a species. The climate envelopes presented here are based on six climate variables:
- annual mean temperature,
- minimum temperature of the coldest month,
- maximum temperature of the warmest month,
- annual precipitation,
- precipitation of the warmest quarter, and
- precipitation of the coldest quarter
For each climate variable, ANUCLIM identifies the following statistical attributes based on climate values at the known occurrence locations: minimum, maximum, mean, as well as the 2.5, 5, 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95, and 97.5 percentiles. Our climate envelope maps show both a full climatic range (defined by the grid cells with climate values that fall between the minimum and maximum values defined by the distribution data) and a core climatic range (defined by grid cells with climate values that fall between the 5th and 95th percentiles).
